Eartag Claims
On the 26 November the Meat Board of Namibia processed the payouts of subsidies for the new RFID tags and compensation for used and unused old ear tags to cattle farmers in the FMD free zone of Namibia. To support producers to comply with the Animal Identification Regulations, the Government of Namibia had availed a fund which is administered by the Meat Board of Namibia. In total, 7261 claims have been received and captured and verified. All payments are made per bank transfer and the beneficiary’s reference will be ‘ear tag claims’ and the stock brand code of the claimant.

NAMLITS
According to the Directory of Veterinary Services NAMLITS had been updated with the help of the Meat Board, the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry and Meatco by the middle of December. There are, however, still differences between the practice and the data base here and there, and therefore the Meat Board requests producers to ensure on an individual basis that cattle that are offered for slaughter at EU export abattoirs are registered on the NAMLITS data base.
Enquiries in this regard can be directed to the NAMLITS office of Avesha, t 061 227036 or Ms Zandrie Nortje, t 061 275851, at the Meat Board office.
According to the stipulations of the Directorate of Veterinary Services all cattle to be slaughtered at EU approved beef export abattoirs after 1 November 2011 must have been registered on the NAMLITS data base for 90 days. |
